Deadline extended until 21 September to participate in the 5G-DiGITs Accelerator
- The deadline to submit applications to the European 5G-DiGITs Accelerator has been extended until 21 September 2026 at 17:00 CEST, giving candidates who have not yet completed or submitted their application a final opportunity to apply.
- The extension follows the second and final online Info Day, held on 3 September, which gave participants the opportunity to learn more about the programme, address their questions and speak directly with the organisations responsible for the challenges included in the call.
Final Info Day of the call
Brussels, 10 September 2026 – The second and final Info Day of the 5G-DiGITs Accelerator took place on Thursday, 3 September 2026 at 11:00 CEST, bringing together more than 70 participants.
Organised by the 5G-DiGITs consortium, the event served as the final information session ahead of the call deadline, following the first Info Day held in June.
During the session, participants received detailed information about the call and the accelerator programme, as well as the different challenges proposed by the participating organisations. The event also gave candidates the opportunity to ask questions directly to the challenge owners and receive practical information about the application process, key dates and the next stages of the programme, helping them prepare their proposals before submitting their applications.
Five challenges to drive innovative solutions
Five organisations from Portugal, Sweden, Finland, Malta and Türkiye have proposed challenges addressing different areas where 5G, 6G and artificial intelligence (AI) can be applied, including public safety, emergency response, telecommunications and environmental risk assessment.
In detail, Karlstads Municipality is looking for solutions to create safer public spaces, while Tieto Tech has proposed a challenge focused on detection using 5G/6G ISAC and Digital Twin technologies. Malta Communications Authority is seeking solutions for mapping exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMF) using AI and identifying critical areas. Opticoms GmbH is focusing on AI-powered emergency response over private 5G networks. Finally, Türk Telekom has proposed a challenge centered on 5G network slicing and an API platform for dynamic, demand-based premium services.
These challenges offer participants the opportunity to develop technology-driven solutions addressing concrete needs and with potential applications in real-world environments.
Training, mentoring and Demo Day
Selected teams will have access to 50 hours of specialised training, as well as mentoring sessions with experts and other resources designed to support the development of their proposals.
The programme will culminate in a Demo Day, where participants will have the opportunity to present the projects and solutions developed during the accelerator.

With the deadline extension, candidates have a final opportunity to complete and submit their applications. The final deadline is Monday, 21 September 2026 at 17:00 CEST.
The call is open to teams of student-led startups from EU Member States and third countries associated with the Erasmus+ programme.
Eligible countries include EU Member States (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden) and third countries associated with the Erasmus+ programme (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Türkiye, North Macedonia and Serbia).
