The application period for the 5G-DiGITs Accelerator has officially closed, with 28 teams selected to take part in the programme.
The 5G-DiGITs Accelerator is entering a new phase following the successful conclusion of its application period. A total of 70 applications were received, demonstrating strong interest in the programme and the opportunity for young talents to develop innovative solutions for 5G/B5G and green technologies.
Supporting innovation in 5G and beyond
The selected teams will now embark on the next stage of the programme, working to develop their ideas and advance their projects with the support of the 5G-DiGITs Accelerator. The initiative aims to foster innovation and help promising solutions unlock the potential of 5G technologies and their applications.
We are glad to warmly welcome all selected participants and congratulate them on their achievement. All the 5G-DiGITs consortium, the Challenge Owners and the mentors look forward to working closely with the teams, learning more about their projects and supporting their progress throughout the Accelerator.

We would also like to thank everyone who submitted an application for their time, effort and interest in the programme. Although not all applicants could be selected on this occasion, we saw in your participation the enthusiasm and commitment driving innovation in the 5G ecosystem.
For this reason, we encourage applicants who were not selected to continue exploring similar opportunities and to stay connected with the 5G-DiGITs project for future updates and other potential initiatives.
Looking ahead
With the selection process complete, the focus now shifts to the teams and the ideas they will bring to life. The coming Accelerator’s meetings will offer the opportunity to discover the teams’ projects, follow their development and explore the innovative solutions they are working towards.
The participants’ journey has already started with the Accelerator Kick-off meeting, on 15 October 2026, where participants introduced their teams and met the Challenge Owners to discuss the challenges they will tackle and how they will work together throughout the programme.
We are excited to move on with the next meetings, know better the teams and their projects, and looks forward to sharing their progress and achievements in the months ahead.
About the 5G-DiGITs Accelerator
The 5G-DiGITs Accelerator is a transnational, challenge-based programme designed to support student-led startups developing innovative solutions in 5G/B5G technologies and green innovation.
Five real-world industry challenges have been identified by organisations from Portugal, Sweden, Finland, Malta and Turkey operating in the technology and telecommunications sectors and the public sector: Türk Telekom, Opticoms, Karlstad Municipality, Tieto Tech Consulting R&D and the Malta Communications Authority.
The challenges explore practical applications of 5G/B5G and green technologies—from enhancing security in public spaces to leveraging private 5G networks for emergency response.
Over four months, participants receive the tools, guidance and expert support needed to transform challenge-driven ideas into investor-ready solutions, benefiting from a European network of mentors, industry leaders and innovation experts. Finally, the teams will showcase their innovative solutions at the Accelerator’s Demo Day.
