The 5G-DiGITs Alliance project was represented last Thursday at the II International Congress “Current Issues in Entrepreneurship”, held on May 14 and 15 at the Faculty of Law of the University of Valencia, by Massimiliano Dragoni, Finnova Foundation’s Vice President for Italy and former Senior Policy Officer at the European Commission for over 27 years. Before an audience of students, startups and young entrepreneurs, Dragoni presented 5G-DiGITs as a key European initiative to build a skilled workforce capable of driving the green and digital transitions, highlighting the opportunities the Erasmus+-funded programme offers to young talent across Europe.
A Stage for European Entrepreneurship
The II International Congress “Current Issues in Entrepreneurship” brought together academics, institutions, startups and young entrepreneurs over two days at the Faculty of Law of the University of Valencia. The event provided a strategic platform to debate the present and future of entrepreneurship in Europe, with a particular focus on innovation, digital transformation, sustainable development and access to European funding. Massimiliano Dragoni’s intervention, titled “The Future is Local: Transforming Territories with European Funding”, addressed the role of local entrepreneurship ecosystems as drivers of territorial competitiveness and social impact across Europe.
5G-DiGITs: Training Europe’s Digital Workforce
Among the European initiatives presented at the congress, there was 5G-DiGITs, a 36-month Erasmus+-funded project, bringing together 12 partners from 8 European countries to develop a workforce capable of responding to the growing demand for advanced digital skills across Europe. The project combines more than 450 hours of specialised training in 5G technologies, artificial intelligence, IoT, sustainability and digital entrepreneurship, with the goal of training 200 professionals and supporting 25 student-led startups through a dedicated accelerator programme. The consortium unites higher education institutions, vocational training providers and industry representatives from Belgium, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Lithuania, Malta, Spain and Sweden, forming a multidisciplinary alliance designed to bridge the gap between advanced digital competencies and the European labour market.
A Broader European Vision
Alongside 5G-DiGITs, other European initiatives were also presented at the congress, including FU-TOURISM, a project co-funded by the Single Market Programme with a budget of 4 million euros that supports tourism SMEs across six European countries in their green and digital transition, and the Valencia Tourism Accelerathon, backed by Startup Europe and the European Commission, which connects students, startups and institutions around sustainable and inclusive tourism solutions.
